Good morning drum major world!
It’s 9:00 am on Thursday–fourth day of DMA/EKU and Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser is CRANKING away! I have been PRIVILEGED to know and work with Dr. Tim for over 30 years now. No matter how many times we get together he makes me WANT to be a better person–every.single.time. Dr. Tim is a force of nature and he has the ability to make you take a long, hard look at yourself in the mirror. What a gift he gives to others!
The George N Parks Drum Major Academy® is incredibly grateful to have such a relationship with Dr. Tim. He will be at SIX DMA locations this summer! The DMA curriculum coupled with his leadership sessions makes for a powerful 1-2 punch not found at any other summer workshop. The two components compliment each other in more ways than can be explained. While DMA benefits from this relationship the real winners are the students.
The week has been outstanding by the way. The students are hungry for information which makes the staff work harder–what a statement that is about the type of student leaders these young men and women are! They pick up new material and devour it. They are willing to learn new approaches that are not the same as the ones they do in their bands at home but they understand to grow they need to reach outside their comfort zones! There is something special about the students here and I look forward to working with them every year.
Guess I should get back to work–almost time to put a bow on this thing!
