leader

As the school year winds down and you finalize your summer plans, we sure hope that you find your way to one of our many Drum Major Academy® programs! If you haven’t yet registered, please see the list of our 2016 dates and select the program location that works best for you!  Have you already attended one location and want to experience something new and different?  Try a program in a new city this summer!  From my own personal experience, I can tell you that was one of the best decisions I made during my time as a student with DMA®. Not a Drum Major yet? No problem. We welcome any student who has an interest in leadership, whether or not you hold any official title.

And since we’re talking about DMA® and the leadership skills you will learn, what does it really mean to be a leader anyway?  I think about this question often, and the more I read about the ordinary people doing extraordinary things, the more I realize that having a title of some sort has nothing to do with it.  I’m so inspired by seeing stories of people who see beyond a problem, and instead create a solution that betters the community they live in or the people they serve.  Want a great example? Check out the story below (click here or on the photo) about Raising Men Lawn Care Service and how it got started.

Want to talk about a leader?! How many lives do you think Rodney has changed by now?

What can you do in your community to make a difference? How can you continue to lead outside of the band? Already doing something? Let us know!  Comment below and we just might feature you on our social media page in the future!

To the seniors out there, congratulations and Happy Graduation! To everyone, we look forward to seeing you this summer!

With Pride,
